DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
Plan and implement an effective educational program that will maximize learning for all students and contribute to their development into confident, competent and creative learners.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create a classroom environment where character education is evident and at the forefront of learning.
- Communicate regularly with parents through conferences and other means to discuss students’ progress and interpret school program.
- Maintain a positive and professional competence, and a willingness to work collaboratively with grade level team, school and district teams.
- Plan, communicate, and carry out effective instruction to maximize learning for all students based on the California Common Core Standards.
- Engage and support all students in learning by using a variety of instructional strategies and resources to respond to student’s diverse needs and by engaging students in problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Demonstrate knowledge of current technology integration practices.
- Create and maintain an effective environment for learning that engages all students in purposeful learning activities and encourages constructive interactions among students.
- Establish and maintain standards for student behavior; manage routines and transitions, and use instructional time effectively.
- Demonstrate knowledge of subject matter content and student development by organizing curriculum to maximize student understanding.
- Plan, monitor, and adjust instruction and design learning experiences for all students that reflect grade-level curriculum expectations and include a repertoire of instructional strategies.
- After completing BTSA, serve on district or site committees as needed.
- Assess student learning and communicate and exchange learning goals with students, families, and support personnel to improve academic progress.
- Develop as a professional educator by reflecting on the teaching practice, planning professional development, and pursuing opportunities to grow professionally.
- Maintain professional competence through participation in professional development provided by the school district and/or county.
- Demonstrate the capabilities necessary to independently teach a classroom of students for the entire day.
- Participate as a member of the School Emergency Preparedness team.
- Possess and utilize strong organizational skills.
- Perform school related responsibilities.
- Perform all other obligations mandated by laws or Board policy, and other reasonable and appropriate tasks assigned by the Administration.
- Plan, organize, write with clarity and correctness, and work cooperatively with fellow employees, staff, administrators and parents.
- Read, write and understand the English language
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Valid California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential
- CLAD/BCLAD/CTEL or equivalent
- Two years elementary classroom teaching experience desirable
