Requirements / Qualifications

Under general supervision, perform custodial work in order to keep an assigned school building or group of buildings or office space clean and orderly, and identify maintenance needs. This is the entry level for the job class and the work assigned is at the apprentice level of custodial work. Essential Job Functions: 1. Sweeps, scrubs, mops, waxes and polishes floors. 2. Vacuums rugs, carpets and other areas as required. 3. Dusts and polishes furniture, woodwork, and other surfaces. 4. Empties, replaces liners, and cleans waste receptacles. 5. Cleans restrooms to include sinks, toilets, mirrors and other fixtures. 6. Washes windows and sills, cleans walls, doors, door handles and knobs, tables, benches, and occasionally other furniture as required. 7. Cleans other sinks, drinking fountains, and other equipment as directed. 8. Preserves equipment and materials through proper storage. 9. Performs site deep cleaning during school vacation periods, to include carpet and floor cleaning. 10. Collects and disposes of trash and debris on the school grounds ensuring that the immediate exterior of the school is kept clean. (This includes collecting and disposing trash and debris left behind by extra-curricular activities, Saturday school, and special events.) 11. Refills paper towel, soap dispensers, and toilet paper dispensers as needed. 12. Performs other related tasks to support school operations such as unloading pallets, setting up/taking down tables, chairs, benches, or desks.

Education: High School Diploma or the equivalent Experience: Minimum 1 year of work or volunteer experience in any field, preferably in an environment involving children.
