8 Hours per week on campus Implementing designated student services as detailed in the student’s IEP, including how many hours each week and within the designated times. Completing assessment reports within mandated time frames. Communicating results of evaluation and specific recommendations of occupational therapy services to the parent, educational staff, and students when appropriate, other professional, and agencies concerned with the student with mandated signed consent from responsible party of student. Planning and developing therapeutic intervention goals that are educationally relevant to be integrated in the students ‘educational programs. Conducting periodic reassessment of the therapy objectives as indicated by student needs determined to be educationally relevant. Monitoring and collaborating by teaching and supervising other professionals and paraprofessionals who are involved with the implementation of occupational therapy intervention procedures. Documenting and maintaining student progress reports in accordance with district and program guidelines. Participating in IEP meetings, as needed, to present information relevant to the student’s therapy goals. Creating an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the maturity level, interests, and needs of the student. Evaluating student progress and determining readiness for termination of occupational therapy services. Facilitating in-service education and professional development for related service/occupational therapy staff. Participating in training educational school staff in use of assistive technology such as adaptive equipment and maintain appropriate documentation. Participating in all required meetings. Performing all other tasks and duties as assigned.

JOB SUMMARY:   Ensures fidelity of systems in the areas of curriculum, instruction and assessment with the overall goal of achieving learning outcomes for students. Is the chief educational assurance agent of the programs assuring compliance with laws, regulations, and internal standards for educational services.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

  • Ensures implementation of Spectrum’s educational policies, procedures and standards which are aligned to California State Frameworks/Content Standards, CDE and educational law (e.g., NCLB, IDEA). Includes DOE regulations (bell schedule/ curriculum/instruction requirements)
  •  
  • Provides support, guidance, and supervision to teachers in the areas of state standards, educational assessment, curriculum, instruction and classroom systems, and ensures the use of evidence-based teaching strategies by providing training, coaching and feedback.
  •  
  • Oversees academic assessment procedures, both Formative (Curriculum Based Measures) and Summative assessments to monitor student progress and rates of student achievement.
  •  
  • Provides training and support in the use of student data for instructional decision making purposes, which includes the use of evidence based instructional practices/strategies to achieve high rates of student growth and achievement.
  •  
  • Oversees implementation of intervention instruction and curriculum with an emphasis on Direct Instruction in the areas of reading, writing, spelling and math for students performing below grade level.
  •  
  • Researches and makes recommendations for the use of evidence-based curricula in the classrooms that meet the requirements set forth by the Department of Education
  •  
  • Provides oversight of lesson plans, transcripts, report cards, grading system and progress reports for the academic classrooms.
  •  
  • Guides the instructional staff in developing long term and short term classroom goals and assists in determining priorities and timelines for implementation (e.g., START Checklist, Classroom Prototype, etc.).
  •  
  • Conducts regular quality assurance checks at the individual student, staff, classroom, and site level to make recommendations for improvement.
  •  
  • Assesses the training needs of the instructional staff, and designs staff development that includes training with follow up monitoring, coaching and feedback.
  •  
  • Provides training and support to Education Coordinators, Teachers, and Related Services Providers in the development and implementation of quality Individual Education Plans (IEPs), specifically with goals/benchmarks that are aligned with educational assessments and present levels of performance.
  •  
  • Assist in the development plans for transitioning students to LRE.
  •  
  • *Works in collaboration with the Senior Behavior Analyst and AVP of ED Services in the use of Positive Behavior Supports/PBS, which includes the point/level system and school/classroom based reinforcers. Also, evaluates teaching plans in consultation with the Senior Behavior Analyst.
  •  
  • Coordinates annual state assessments and standardized testing for students.
  •  
  • Provides positive, ongoing and open communication among all departments within the Spectrum system; VP of Curriculum & Instruction, VP of Clinical Services, AVP Autism Services, AVP ED Services and Transition Director
  •  
  • Establishes and maintains effective communication with parents, care providers and district personnel, always projecting a positive and professional company image, and participates as a liaison when required.
  •  
  • Attends and participates in all required meetings including Curriculum and Instruction Leadership, Site Team, Clinical, All staff Meetings, and also participates in on-going staff development through conferences, trainings, and seminars to maintain and develop core competencies.
  •  
  • Participates with the school director in educational budgetary planning and the monitoring of curricular expenditures.
  •  
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENT:  Master’s degree in Special Education preferred. Additional preferred skills, abilities, and qualifications include experience training educationally based, effective teaching strategies, classroom management systems, data-based decision making, and functional analysis/behavior intervention plans.  

Valid CA Special Education Level 1 (Preliminary) Credential required, Level 2 (Professional Clear)  Teaching Credential preferred or Credentialed Teaching experience for 3 years considered.  Valid state driver’s license.
