JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Drama Instructor
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: Under the direction of the Principal, provides leadership, supervision, and instruction to the Drama program. This includes both during class time and during non-school hours.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Will provide one major public performance opportunity each year
• Select appropriate scripts considering the number, gender, and abilities of the students enrolled in the class (Principal will approve the script prior to its final selection)
• Provide students with a structured and varied coverage of the scope of stage theater
• Provide a quality program of theater arts which will involve interested students, attract a community wide audience, and produce meaningful stage plays
• Provide directorial leadership for all plays produced in the drama classes. Use of student directors is acceptable only under teacher leadership
• Will be responsible for all drama production advertising efforts
• Plan and manage the budget of drama program
• Follow school and ASB budget policies and regulations
• See that fund-raisers are approved by the board
• Develop and maintain a positive relationship with parents, the media, the community, the staff, and the administration
• Encourage community/parent involvement
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal/designee
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Valid California Driver's License
• Valid First Aid and CPR certification
• Knowledge of the general needs and behavior of children
• Ability to communicate in writing for the purposes of composing the required reports and other correspondence
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• Valid California teaching credential
• Experience in drama/theatrical arts production
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: of this position are, but not limited to, the following:

• Stand in one area for extended periods of time
• Stand and walk for extended periods of time
• Sit for extended periods of time
• Ascend and descend steps
• See for the purpose of reading student work, laws and codes, rules and policies, and other related matter, and observing students
• Hear and understand speech at normal levels

• Communicate so others will clearly understand normal conversation
• Communicate using the telephone
• Bend, twist, kneel and/or or stoop
• Lift and carry 30 lbs.
• Reach in all directions
• Think clearly and rationally to solve problems
