JOB TITLE: Transportation Clerk - Classified Employee DEADLINE: Until position is filled LOCATION: Sierra-Plumas Joint Unified School District administration office SALARY: Beginning wage: $16.21-$18.24 per hour BENEFITS: Sick Leave, vacation, no health benefits ASSIGNMENT: Part-time, 5 hours per week. Flexible schedule. DESCRIPTION: Under the general or direct supervision of Superintendent, the Transportation Clerk shall perform a wide variety of clerical tasks to support the District’s transportation program. The person in this position will serve as a liaison between bus drivers, school staff, office personnel and other agencies; schedule substitute drivers and organize bus transportation logistics for field trips and off campus events. Transportation Clerk will use radio and telephone communication and correspond by email and US mail. This assignment includes frequent communication with CHP officers, driver trainers and bus mechanics. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Prefer applicants with one year experience working in a bus driver position or in a transportation-type business environment. Experience in telephone etiquette/communication, proficient in record keeping and basic computer skills are critical to be successful in this position. . Applicant must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Must have the ability to communicate effectively in the English language and possess excellent verbal communication skills. The employee must develop and maintain a positive working relationship with staff and those with whom business is conducted. Person is required to exhibit ability to bend, reach overhead, kneel, stand and sit. Department of Justice fingerprint clearance and tuberculin test clearance are required prior to employment.
