We opened our doors in the fall of 2020 to serve students and families in northeast Los Angeles. We are located in the Lincoln Heights neighborhood in Northeast Los Angeles, close to Highland Park, South Pasadena, and El Sereno. Job Summary El Rio Community School, a public, independent charter school, uses the Waldorf approach to teach Common Core state standards. We are looking for someone who is part of a Counseling, MFT, or Social Work graduate program to provide ongoing counseling services to our general education students. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, warm, reliable, and have an interest in providing counseling services to children in a school environment. Counseling will be provided individually and in groups. The intern will work with students on conflict resolution, coping strategies, anxiety/stress management, social skills, and strengthening their overall social-emotional functioning. This is a part-time opportunity that offers a stipend of $100/day. The position is for 1-2 days/week, depending on need. The intern will receive 1 hour of individual supervision from a licensed provider each week.

Requirements: • Master’s, post-graduate, or Doctoral student in MFT, Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Human Services, or a related field. • Be available one to two days per week for the entire school year during school hours (approx 8 am-3:15 pm, M-F). • Be available to attend one hour per week of clinical supervision for the entire school year.
