Job Summary

Reporting to the Controller of Shadow Mountain Community Church, the School Staff Accountant has the incredible privilege and responsibility to manage significant fiduciary responsibilities of a thriving, high-impact church, school, and seminary. This person will partner with the Controller to provide financial reporting and analysis, guide the annual budgeting process, and assist campus Principals, the Superintendent, and Chief Financial Officer with ongoing financial planning.

Requirements / Qualifications

Requirements Must have a passion for Christ and His mission through Shadow Mountain Community Church with an eagerness to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, and demanding environment. Known by family, peers and associates to be a person of unyielding integrity in all matters great and small. Record of consistent personal, professional, and spiritual growth, along with a thorough understanding and personal application of biblical stewardship principles. Prior experience managing each aspect of business financial statements to include payroll oversight, accounts payable and receivables, contributions, and management of a general ledger; non-profit experience preferred. Energetic and forward-thinking individual with a curiosity and desire to help the team win through increased organizational effectiveness. Demonstrated excellence in communication, analytical and organizational skills. Must have a collaborative and flexible leadership style and a strong service mentality. Preference to candidates with three or more years of experience in a strategic financial or business role within an audited environment. A bachelor’s degree in accounting (preferred) or finance (with prior relevant experience). *** This position is eligible for benefits of medical, dental, life, accidental death, retirement, short and long term disability.

Responsibilities Maintain financial systems and policies to ensure effective stewardship of school, seminary, and church resources. Prepare monthly financial reports and any other necessary reports requested by the Controller and Chief Financial Officer. Assist with long-term budget planning through forecasting and modeling of existing trends to anticipated strategic initiatives within the current educational environment. Coordinate with Controller, CFO and external auditing firm to ensure proper accounting procedures, internal controls and compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Work with campus teams to establish and maintain appropriate budget accountability and budget training. Must be able to present and articulate information to staff on budgets and financial positions, specifically with Principals, Superintendent, and Senior Staff. Other duties as assigned.
