Overview Los Angeles Academy of Arts and Enterprise (LAAAE) seeks a dynamic and committed Special Education Coordinator. Candidates should be passionate about meeting the needs of students in an engaging and relevant learning environment. A willingness to work collaboratively in a forward-thinking school with high expectations for students and staff is essential. Preference will be given to applicants with an arts or business background. Applicants that take initiative and think out-of-the-box to solve problems are encouraged to apply. Duties and Responsibilities: The Special Education Coordinator coordinates, implements, and monitors legal and LAUSD special education policy compliance activities regarding students with disabilities eligible for special education services. The Special Education Coordinator provides proactive leadership to engage stakeholders in the delivery of programs and services to support the students’ academic achievement, personal, and social development. The Special Education Coordinator works cooperatively with school leaders, teachers, student services staff, students, and parents. The duties and responsibilities listed below are representative and not meant to be comprehensive. ? Develops and coordinates measurement, scheduling, training, implementation, and monitoring procedures and activities for school compliance reviews; ? Coordinates and provides services necessary for IEP compliance; ? Assists in the implementation of special education consent decrees and the development of compliance policies, procedures, and communications; ? Develops relevant training and monitoring systems; ? Coordinates and serves as a consultant for the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of special education instructional programs to meet federal, State, and LAUSD compliance standards at all grade levels; ? MATERIALS Materials -Candidates must possess a credential authorizing special education service.; -Candidates must possess a CLAD, BCLAD, or another form of English learner authorization or be eligible for one; -Letter of interest; -Current resume; and -Three professional reference contacts. Preferred candidates will be able to coach a sport or sponsor a student organization. Preference will also be given to bilingual (English/Spanish) candidates.
