Fairmont Schools has a dynamic and advanced curriculum. We are seeking for a teacher who can connect with our students and have passion for continous learning. Our Teachers must be able to integrate technology in the classroom and must be able to differentiate intstruction with all core subjects.
Bachelor Degree required, completion of the CBEST and a Teaching Credential preferred. Minimum of two years teaching experience in the classroom; 4-7th grade. Must be able to teach high level math--pre-algebra. Ability to work with AM/AR programs a plus! The ideal candidate must be able to relate professionally with students, parents and staff and able to work in a team environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Include the following:
1) Plans and implements daily, weekly and yearly goals and objectives according to students’ needs and within Fairmont’s overall curriculum guidelines.
2) Promotes Fairmont’s philosophy and actively works to develop a positive working environment among students, teachers, administrator, and support staff.
3) Plans for, writes and implements weekly lesson plans to assure adherence to and completion of Fairmont’s curriculum and to facilitate classroom continuity in his/her absence.
4) Assures that lesson plans include: varied styles of teaching methods and stimulating feedback mechanisms, enrichment work, provision for remediation, visual and auditory aids.
5) Utilizes Blackboard Learning Management System (LMS) to post homework/assignments and communicate with students and parents. Also posts weekly lesson plans for Directors to access.
6) Seeks out and implements changes in scheduling and planning that will enhance individual learning, facilitate transition times and ensures on task behavior.
7) Designs evaluation tools and tests children on a routine basis, keeps records and maintains such for progress reports, report cards and conferences. Gradebook is updated weekly so parents and students can access up-to-date student records via Netclassroom.
8) Analyzes and utilizes pre and post test information for lesson planning and overall input into the curriculum and to accommodate both group and individual differences.
9) Provides adequate teacher preparation of materials, to maximize actual classroom teaching time.
10) Organizes and maintains a safe, disciplined, yet stimulating academic classroom environment.
11) Plans implements, and supervises special academic, social events as required. Contributes to the planning and arranging of age appropriate field trips; conducts and supervises them in a safe and organized manner, utilizing parent support where needed.
12) Maintains disciplined classroom; assures that all the children are aware of rules and their consequences; and further assures consistency in applying the rules.
13) Is responsible to Director and Assistant Director for taking directions and communicating needs. Keeps Director informed of children who need special academic attention or have behavioral issues.
14) Assures safety standards are taught and implemented. Reports deviations to the Director, Assistant Director or Safety Officer.
15) Maintains classroom, books and supplies, in a safe, neat and orderly condition.
16) Arranges bulletin boards utilizing students work assuring the display is artistic, seasonal and academically stimulating.
17) Maintains ongoing positive communications with parents professionally and in a timely manner.
18) Communicates in a positive, professional and timely manner with parents and staff.
19) Supervises, when schedule required, recess duty and after school behavioral detention and/or study hall.
20) Supports and attends orientation programs, Parent Night, Open House, musical programs, sports events, pentathlon, and graduation and all other special school activities and events when appropriate.
21) Attends and constructively participates in staff meetings & professional development and shows evidence of follow through in classroom application.
22) Understands and is knowledgeable of all Fairmont’s policies, procedures and philosophies, including emergency fire and earthquake procedures; and conveys, where appropriate, such information to the students.
23) Continues to develop professionally through reading, attending workshops & in-services and participation in conferences.
24) Sets good example for students by arriving on time, dressing professionally, planning creative and productive lessons, and promptly evaluating and returning student work
25) Carries on other duties as directed by the Director or Assistant Director.
