POSITION DESCRIPTION

Working under the direction of the Principal, Adult Education, responsible to plan, implement and evaluate learning activities in English as a Second Language class.  Course content follows the ESL model standards for Adult Education Programs. Instruction will be provided in the areas of listening, speaking, reading and writing in English. The teacher must be familiar with language functions and forms.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide training necessary for entry level employment in the related field.
  • Maintain records related to student performance and attendance.
  • Maintain current information on and awareness of industry standards for subject area.
  • Perform related duties as assigned/required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Credentials and experience:

  • Appropriate Designated Subjects Adult Education credential, Multiple Subject or Single Subject credential
  • Appropriate EL Authorization
  • Valid Drivers’ License

Knowledge of:

  • Correct English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation
  • Instructional strategies

Ability to:

  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with persons contacted in the course of work
  • Prepare reports and maintain records
  • Understand and carry out oral and written instructions

Appropriate Designated Subjects Adult Education credential, Multiple Subject or Single Subject credential Appropriate EL Authorization

  • Copy of Transcript (must show conferral of degree as noted in the job description)
  • Credential Copy (detailed printout from CTC website - ctc.ca.gov)
  • Letter of Introduction
  • Letter(s) of Recommendation (3 current letters of recommendation / at least two of the three must be dated within the last two years)
  • Resume
