Job Summary
Under supervision of the Principal, the Director of Athletics plays a critical role in supporting Bishop Diego High School. The Director of Athletics must have excellent communication and leadership skills as well as a strong rapport with students, parents, alumni, donors, faculty and staff, and the greater community. They also should have a deep appreciation for the Catholic faith and a commitment to the teachings of the Church. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following: --To develop, organize, supervise and evaluate the entire Athletic Department. --To ensure that all coaches are performing their duties at the very highest level of professionalism. --To ensure that all coaching positions are filled with competent coaches who are properly trained in all organizational and philosophical aspects of the athletic program. The Athletic Director will participate with the Principal and the administrative team in employment decisions and faculty assignments related to the Athletic Department. --To ensure new coaching hires complete the entire new hire process, including various training, background checks and complete all necessary paperwork. --To ensure the proper maintenance and security of all athletic equipment and athletic facilities, fields and courts, working in coordination with the Facilities Director and Maintenance Supervisor. --To be involved in the coordination and execution of upgrades to athletic facilities. --To organize and distribute information on the various athletic programs for public recognition of athletic achievements via social media and local media outlets. --To prepare, submit, and administer a budget each year to fund the athletic programs of the school. --To submit and confirm payroll amounts for coaches during their season of sport. --To execute all equipment, uniform, athletic training supply, etc orders for the athletic department in coordination with Bookkeeper.

Responsibilities, cont. --To oversee the Cardinal Club (athletic booster club) and ensure fundraising efforts are continually improving and in line with the mission of the school. --To ensure and confirm the eligibility of our student-athletes per CIF-SS bylaws and school policies, including academic eligibility, athletic clearance and transfer eligibility. --To provide the scheduling of all athletic contests, arrange for athletic transportation, assign and communicate early releases, and ensure all games have officials. --Ensure schedules are inputted and accurate on all required platforms (CIF, school calendar, etc.) --To be responsible for timely payment of officials after competitions. --To ensure the school has supervision and representation at various athletic contests, including postseason contests.To also represent the school at all league meetings. --To ensure that required information is submitted to CIF at the conclusion of each season for postseason consideration. --To ensure scores for contests are updated in the various required platforms in a timely manner. --To maintain records of team and individual athletic accomplishments. --To maintain and revise the Athletic Department policies for the Parent-Student Handbook, and to hold a Parents Meeting annually to present the policies. Preferred candidates will: --Possess a Bachelor's degree --Be a practicing Catholic --Have a minimum of three to five years of experience in education-based athletics --Demonstrate excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communications skills --Exhibit a high level of initiative, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills --Have direct experience with the Google platform, social media, and CIF Home (or similar platform). --Have an understanding of CIF-SS Blue Book.
