The Reading Interventionist, serves as a subject expert for Blue Ridge Academy by organizing and implementing ELA intervention for our school. The RI Teacher works with the Homeschool Teacher (HST), parents, students and all other academic staff within Blue Ridge Academy to support students. This may include staff from the Blue Ridge Academy Special Education team. The RI Teacher organizes, develops and maintains curriculum and direct instruction for intervention via a virtual platform. In addition the RI Teacher will provide data for follow up SST and 504 meetings and communicate with parents, teachers, staff regarding progress or further assessments needed. The RI Teacher may also assist general education teachers with selection of appropriate curricula and the development and implementation of appropriate strategies. The Reading Interventionist will travel to HST team meetings and present intervention processes as needed.
