Job Summary

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Superintendent, the Chief Academic Officer provides oversight, strategic direction, and educational accountability for all instructional programs. The Chief Academic Officer will lead the district-wide academic vision based on Board goals, priorities, and policies. The Chief Academic Officer will support school leaders to produce dramatic gains in student achievement. The Chief Academic Officer will ensure that programs and priorities are focused on narrowing and/or eliminating achievement gaps, mitigating learning loss, and improving student achievement for all, including racial, ethnic, economic, and special population groups including, but not limited to, exceptional children, academically gifted, English Learners, and foster/homeless youth. The Chief Academic Officer serves as a member of the Superintendent’s Executive Cabinet and the District Administrative Team.

Education and Experience: 1. A minimum of three years of successful classroom teaching experience, five years preferred 2. A minimum of three years of successful site-level administrative experience 3. A minimum of three years of successful district-level administrative experience 4. Demonstrated achievement as an educational leader with vision and strong instructional insight, including specific evidence of improvement in student learning as a result of the candidate’s leadership 5. California Administrative Service Credential, required 6. Master’s Degree, required 7. Doctorate Degree, preferred 8. Bilingual ability, preferred, but not required District paid medical, dental, vision, and prescription plans are provided for employees and dependents, up to a $14,800 district contribution.
