Requirements / Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Any combination equivalent to:
Accountant I:
- Education: Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting, auditing, business law or a closely related field, AND
- Experience: at least one year of work experience in professional accounting and fiscal control work or through five years of progressively responsible financial or fiscal control work in a school district, county office of education, or related public agency
Accountant II:
- Education: Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting, auditing, business law or a closely related field, AND
- Experience: two years as an Accountant I with the Santa Clara County Office of Education or at least three years of equivalent work experience in professional accounting and fiscal control work.

THE POSITION
The Business, Facilities and Operations Division is now accepting applications for Accountant I/II. The Accountant I/II performs professional accounting, budget analysis and reviews, and provides comprehensive fiscal knowledge, accounting/fiscal support, and technical assistance for departments, sites, and/or school districts and programs of the County Office of Education. The Accountant I/II monitors fiscal solvency and ensures funding compliance, develops, prepares, audits, revises, and/or maintains a variety of accounting, budget, and financial reports, statements, transactions, and records in accordance with applicable laws, codes, statutes, rules, regulations and ordinances. This class is responsible for accurate and timely accounting, budget, and fiscal production work under stringent timelines. This position is full-time, and has a work year of 12 months/ 261 days/ 8 hours per day.

- Selected candidates from the list will be invited to a second interview with the hiring authorities, tentatively scheduled for theweek of June 4, 2023.
