Job Summary

Job Summary

Candidates may express an interest in Any or All three strands below: * School-Based Therapy Program (SBT): School-Based Therapists work to address the unmet mental health needs of students by working with school counselors, teachers, and administrators. The SBT position receives referrals from the counseling departments of the school (or schools) that the SBT is assigned to. SBTs provide primarily individual and group counseling with some opportunity to work with families as well as the school community. SBTs also work to support the population's mental health through stigma reduction, mental health prevention/messaging, mental health education, and psychological first aid. SBTs are responsible for supporting suicide assessment, education, and prevention. * Counseling Enriched Programs(CEP): School-based therapists assigned to the secondary-level CEP programs work with a multidisciplinary classroom team to provide intensive therapeutic services to a small number of students, both as a pull-out individual and group counseling and as embedded therapeutic classroom support. Responsibilities also include working with parents and families to support student success in school, and communication with multiple outside agencies to align student therapeutic supports. CEP SBTs work as a member of the educational team to develop social-emotional present levels, progress tracking, and IEP social-emotional goal development. * Educationally Related Mental Health Services:(ERMHS): Caseload is for K-12 counseling support for students with social-emotional IEP goals. Experience in providing therapeutic services to children and teens. Use ERMHS goals to plan treatment objectives; Provide services via multiple means, using play/handouts/roleplay/talk therapy, based on student’s developmental skills. Participate in IEP meetings & report on student progress; Participate in ERMHS consultation team meetings with school psychologist/ERMHS Coordinator.

Requirements / Qualifications

Trainee Minimum Qualifications: - Enrollment in a Masters Program in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Clinical Psychology or a related field. - Enrollment in a practicum course that complies with requirements to provide mental health services within the state of California. - Minimum of 2 years prior experience working in education, mental health or a related field. - Excellent communication and writing skills. Associate Minimum Qualifications: - Master's Degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Clinical Psychology or a related field. - Clinical licensure required for Clinical Intern status or Mental Health Service provider (ie. LAMFT, LMFT, LCSW). For Clinical Interns, actively and appropriately participate in a minimum of one hour a week individual supervision and two hours a week of group supervision approved and accepted by the Board of Behavioral Sciences. - Minimum of 2 years prior experience working in education, mental health or a related field. - Excellent communication and writing skills. Desirable Qualifications: - Familiarity with the special education framework, including participation in IEP meetings; - Prior experience working with children and adolescents with mild to severe emotional and behavioral challenges within an elementary, junior high, or high school setting; - Ability to complete ERMHS assessments as necessary. - Spanish bilingual candidates are highly encouraged in order to best meet the needs of our high EL population.
