Requirements:
Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science Degree and Registered Nurse License; qualify for the Preliminary Health Services Credential for School Nurse. The individual selected must obtain a Professional Clear Health Services Credential within 5 years of employment. Pediatric experience desired.
Descriptions of Duties:
Consultant to school district for Health Services including: individual case study, program availability and application, and current research and development in health related areas; consult with physicians, psychologists, faculty, parents, etc.; respond to requests from Student Services; foster a safe and drug-free learning environment that supports academic achievement; coordinate the Safe & Drug-Free Schools & Communities and Tobacco-Use Prevention Education (SDATE) Program; collaborate with school sites, parents and community in establishing drug-free learning environments; administer and interpret screening tests; prepare and maintain health records; correspond with clinicians and agencies; referral to other agencies or community resources; plan and implement in-service programs; provide resource for emergency health services; recommend appropriate services when and where needed.
Salary:
Appropriate placement on School Nurse Salary Schedule.
