Job Description

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under an assigned supervisor, regular/contract instructors participate in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of educational programs, courses and other experiences that will directly result in the educational growth of the students and support and advance the equity centered and social justice minded visions, mission and values of the college and District. This position will include evening assignments, lab classes, and may involve online teaching. Cuyamaca College is strongly committed to being "student centered." concept serving a diverse student population. Instructors will be expected to perform other duties consistent with their faculty job description as stated in the faculty contract available athttp://www.gcccd.edu/.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: APPLICANTS MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA

Master's degree in physical education, exercise science, education with an emphasis in physical education, kinesiology, physiology of exercise, or adaptive physical education;

OR

Bachelor's degree in any of the above and Master's in any life science, dance, physiology, health education, recreation administration, or physical therapy;

OR

the equivalent.

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS:

Academic preparation for teaching exercise science courses and exercise science intercollegiate athletic courses.

Experience coaching women's and or men's volleyball at the high school, club, college level or elite level.

Must be qualified and able to teach a variety of fitness-specific classes.

The ability to effectively teach using equity-minded, student-centered practices in addition to having the ability to effectively work with and mentor historically underrepresented and first-generation college students.

Proven history of involved participation in the promotion of departmental and campus affairs, such as committee work, curriculum development and department leadership.

Ability to communicate and interact professionally both on campus and when representing the college during intercollegiate athletics contests, events and mandatory 3C2A business meetings.

Must be able to work collaboratively and professionally with colleagues, staff and administration.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience in developing comprehensive lecture material and assessing student learning outcomes.

Evidence of a strong commitment to remain current in the specific areas of the applicant's expertise and in the dynamically changing area of exercise science.

Mastery of the breadth and depth of current subject matter (Exercise Science or coaching demonstrated by effective planning, and communication.)

Possession of nationally recognized certification from organizations such as ACSM, ACE, NASM, USA Volleyball, etc.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS - Applicants will also be evaluated on the following

Evidence of involvement with community related projects in the public interest, such as participating in liaison and outreach activities with high schools, transfer institutions and the community.

Perform other duties consistent with faculty job description as stated in the faculty contract.
