JOB DESCRIPTION Grossmont Union High School District FLEET PARTS STOREKEEPER Purpose Statement: The job of Fleet Parts Storekeeper is done for the purpose/s of maintaining required inventory levels of maintenance parts and tools; procuring parts, tools and materials; ensuring specifications, quantity and quality of orders; and verifying stock and identifying losses. This job reports to Director, Transportation Essential Functions • Conducts physical inventories for the purpose of verifying stock and identifying losses. • Issues parts and tools for the purpose of providing service workers with needed equipment. • Maintains inventory of vehicle repair manuals, parts, tools and equipment for the purpose of ensuring the availability of supplies as needed. • Maintains manual and electronic documents, files and records (e.g. receipts, blueprints, specifications, manuals, open purchase orders, vehicle repair manuals, etc.) for the purpose of providing an up-to-date reference and audit trail for compliance. • Prepares various documents (e.g. work orders, purchase orders, vehicle records cards, etc.) for the purpose of providing necessary information. • Procures equipment, supplies and materials for the purpose of maintaining availability of required items and proper storage in the facilities. • Receives shipments for the purpose of ensuring specifications, quantity and quality of orders are correct. • Researches a variety of topics (e.g. new products, requisitions, billings, credits, etc.) for the purpose of keeping abreast of current trends and new equipment and/or resolving discrepancies. • Responds to inquiries for the purpose of providing information, direction and/or resolution. • Stocks parts, tools and materials for the purpose of maintaining required inventory supply levels. Other Functions • Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities. • Maintains tools, equipment and parts room for the purpose of ensuring a safe and efficient work area. Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications SKILLS are required to perform multiple, non-technical tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adhering to safety practices; operating standard office equipment including using pertinent software applications; and preparing and maintaining accurate records. KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and understand complex, multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job includes: safety practices and procedures; concepts of grammar and punctuation; business and purchasing terminology; part house procedures in material control; and inventory and material handling procedures. ABILITY is required to schedule activities and/or meetings; gather and/or collate data; and use basic, job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with a variety of data; and utilize specific, job-related equipment. In working with others, some problem solving may be required to identify issues and select action plans. Problem solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is moderate. Working Environment The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 40% sitting, 30% walking, and 30% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and a generally hazard free environment.
