Job Summary

Job Summary

Under the supervision of Executive Director and in collaboration with District administrators, coordinates Special Education programs and services for the elementary student population. Committed to teamwork, the Coordinator is responsible for administrative and parent support, student placements, case management, professional development, and day-to-day compliance with Federal and California State law pertaining to Special Education.

Requirements / Qualifications

Credential: Education Specialist; School Psychologist; Speech Therapist; or other Special Education Credentials Minimum Qualifications: Knowledge of Special Education Federal and State laws and regulations. Knowledge of California State standards. Experience in the field of Special Education including mental retardation and autism. Administrative Services Credential desirable. Site Administration or equivalent experience desirable. Strong instructional background with experience in staff development and literacy training. Knowledge of developmentally appropriate curricular and instructional needs of young children. Successful experience in working with parents of special needs students.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree Master’s Degree desirable. Personal Qualities: Appearance, grooming and personality that establishes a desirable example for students. Ability to meet District standards for physical and mental health. Better than average recommendations from student teaching supervisors or other professionals who have observed the personal characteristics, scholastic attainment, and classroom performance of the teacher.
