Job Description and Duties
Come and join our team at the Nutrition Services Division (NSD). to provide healthy food to school children throughout the State of California.
The NSD administers state and federal food programs such as the National School Lunch Program School Breakfast Program and orders, stores, and distributes U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Foods and Department of Defense Fresh Fruit and Vegetables to recipient agencies, The Compliance Section Staff Services Manager (SSM) III has full responsibility for a wide breadth of highly complex, multidisciplinary, and diverse staff services and program functions. The SSM lll provides direct supervision to two SSM lls and a Child Nutrition Supervisor ll; indirectly supervises seven managers and supervisors, and oversees the work products of another 84 permanent and temporary in-house and out-stationed staff.
The SSM lll oversees the Fiscal Accountability, (FAA), the Program Accountability, and the Field Services Administrations, which determine Child Nutrition Program (CNP) Operator compliance with USDA and State rules and regulations for CNPs. The units provide direct and indirect technical assistance about the CNP to ensure that CNP Operators are in compliance, monitor the individual programs on site, and advise the CNP Operators on how to submit or implement acceptable permanent corrective actions as required by the NSD and the USDA.
In addition, the SSM lll coordinates with the NSD Director and the Associate Director, and at times with the Opportunities for All Branch Deputy Superintendent, to develop policies on monitoring internal and external issues affecting the operation of the NSD and the CNPs.

This position is eligible for remote-centered hybrid telework up to three days per week; minimum two days per week in the office.
