Requirements / Qualifications
The El Dorado County Office of Education, a recognized leader in providing high-quality alternative educational programs, is looking for a talented teacher to join our team as a part of our Charter Home Study Academy program. Our instructional format is a hybrid-homeschool model. Students come to the school site two days per week for classes and complete work at home with the parent being the home schoolteacher. Families meet regularly with their supervising teacher who will guide the parents in at-home instruction, assess student progress, and maintain student records. This position includes teaching 3rd grade with a focus on Math and Science and serving as a supervising teacher who will effectively work with individual students and families in the K-8 setting. Third-grade class time runs from 8:30 AM - 1:30 PM Tuesday and Thursday. Teachers provide direct instruction in math and create math lesson plans for families to complete at home. The class will also fulfill the science requirement for third grade. Our program is looking for a teacher who has the ability to teach in both elementary and middle school environments and can prepare and deliver meaningful classroom and at-home experiences that are motivational and academically rigorous. Our students use technology and teachers utilize a web-based Learning Management System (L.M.S.) to create a seamless educational experience for students. Class sizes run around 18-22 students.
Characteristics we are looking for: • Applicant must be fully credentialed. • A team member who can contribute talents, interests, and abilities to our school. • An effective and dynamic instructor who loves to work with students individually as well as in a classroom setting. • A dynamic individual with the ability to teach in both K-5 and 6-8 settings. • A person who passionately embraces new ideas, change, and out-of-the-box thinking. We are not a traditional five-day-a-week program. • A person who wants to actively contribute to an environment that is committed to high-quality service to our students and families. • The ability to create, adapt and modify the curriculum to work in a program that meets only two days per week. • The ability to quickly connect with students, inspire them, and maintain a culture of learning and mutual respect. • A person who is technologically proficient. Google Classroom, Pathways, and Canvas programs • Compassion and interpersonal skills are key. Education: ~Bachelor's Degree ~Valid California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential Experience: ~Two years of recent full time teaching experience preferred ~Home study/distant learning or alternative school setting experience desired
