POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Coordinator, Foster Youth Services Coordinating Program (FYSCP) is done for the purpose(s) of planning and coordinating services for Pupil and Administrative Services and the implementation of the Foster Youth Services program. The incumbent will coordinate with stakeholders to ensure timelines for local, state, and federal requirements are met with accuracy and precision. The position requires specialized subject matter expertise in operating grant-funded programs, foster youth educational needs, and strategies to improve education outcomes as well as extensive, directly related, and progressive experience in the areas of Differentiated Assistance, student discipline, laws relating to minors, student records, enrollment, student and parent rights support, special education and section 504 discipline, and the School Attendance Review Board. The Coordinator shall provide technical, specialized, consultative, advisory, planning, and program evaluation services in the Foster Youth Services Coordinating Program; plan, organize, develop, recommend, and evaluate programs, processes, and procedures; serve as a resource to the school districts and the other members of the FYSCP Team in the assigned area of specialization; conduct special studies and in-services; monitor legislation and provide interpretation and guidance; and perform related duties as assigned. Critical to this position is the ability to collaborate with multiple agencies to ensure educational practices are in place to improve school stability, appropriate placement, and swift educational records transfer. This is designated as a certificated management position and is part of the Management Leadership Team. This is a grant-funded position.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: A minimum of three (3) years of professional experience as a district foster liaison or similar experience serving foster youth. Two (2) years of management or supervisory experience and three (3) years of teaching or school counseling experience is required. REQUIRED EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in sociology, human services, or a related field is required. A Master’s Degree is preferred.
