JCS was established in November 1999 (under a management organization) as a K-12 non-classroom based charter school. In 2000, the School, as a 501(c)(3) organization, incrementally began taking ownership of curriculum, instruction and assessment; finance, facilities, and business management; and organization, governance, and administration becoming a fully independent, direct funded, incorporated charter school by the 2002-2003 school year. From inception, the School was designed to meet the needs of students under served by traditional delivery systems of education or for families with a strong desire to home school. The School received an initial charter for two years and has had three additional five-year renewals.

Job Summary
The Virtual Teacher will direct and supervise core subject matter in his/her field of specialty for assigned JCS LIVE students in an online, home study environment. Job position entails daily and regular communication with students, parents, and administration; assigning and reviewing student work; verifying student learning; managing grades; maintaining appropriate documentation; participating in school events and meetings; providing regular, ongoing tutoring; and any such activities required as to provide a sound and robust educational program.
Requirements / Qualifications
This position requires a current California Teaching Credential (Single Subject English). If you do not currently hold a valid California teaching credential, your application will not be considered.

The Virtual English teacher will direct and supervise core subject matter in English for assigned JCS LIVE students in an online, home study environment. Applicant must live in California, preferably San Diego or Riverside County.
JCS-LIVE is a virtual online, independent study, program that focuses on building lifelong skills with our students. Students work with credentialed teachers to establish a plan, schedule and set personal goals to help them reach mastery. Content is built around career and college readiness starting in elementary school.
