Principal – Grades 7-8
Description of Position
The principal shall be held responsible for the general management and immediate educational direction and supervision of the school. As the administrator of the school, the principal shall be responsible for the enforcement of the State Educational Code, the rules and regulations of the California State Board of Education, the policies and the administrative regulations of the Superintendent of Schools. The principal shall operate under the direction of the Superintendent.
Duties and Responsibilities
Maintains an instructional program. Responsible for all aspects of plant operation. Supervises instruction. Prepares master programs, room schedules, and staff assignments. Maintains school records and submits all reports as required. Maintains and enforces the “Behavior and Discipline Code” adopted by the Board of Education and assumes responsibility for discipline and morale of his/her school. Cooperates with public service agencies such as police, fire, health and welfare. Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent. Maintains health environment within the school for students and staff.
Other Duties
Conducts appropriate public information programs for his/her school - works with PTA and other parent groups. Inspects plant regularly and reports to proper authorities any health or safety hazard. Reports injury and accidents to Superintendent. Maintains and follows a school budget. Meet regularly with Management Team and teachers for appropriate school planning. Supervises career patterns. Serve as member and Budget Chairman of SIP (School Improvement Program). Evaluate teacher objectives and lesson plans. Serve on various school committees. Be responsible for faculty communication. Articulation with high school and sixth grades. Plan graduation activities.
