The Disabled Student Program and Services (DSP&S) Team of the Long Beach Community College District is seeking qualified individuals for current opportunities as a Disability Support Services Specialist! We are seeking individuals who have obtained a Bachelor's degree with a major in education, social sciences, human services or a closely related field. Additionally, these incumbents must have at least two years of working with students with disabilities in an educational setting.
The Disabled Students Program & Services (DSP&S) Office at Long Beach City College provides post-secondary education access through academic adjustments for students with qualifying disabilities. The academic adjustments assist in creating an equitable educational experience for students with disabilities at Long Beach City College and promote full participation in educational programs and activities. Through a multimodal approach, DSP&S aims to help students thrive academically to reach their academic goals of certification, graduation, and/or transfer. DSP&S also strives to provide campus-wide education regarding abilities and diversity to promote an inclusive campus. We are looking for skilled Disability Support Services Specialists that will greatly contribute to this program. The candidates we are looking for will have an excellent ability to communicate and build rapport with students, staff, faculty and management. Additionally, the candidates will demonstrate a strong understanding on how to serve students holistically. The ideal incumbent will also possess a dedication to student success. • Type of position: Full time• Location: LAC & PCC• Salary: Range 37 ($5,646.27 - $6,961.33 Monthly)• Advanced salary placement: Generally, new employees start at the first step on the salary schedule. Duties
Under general supervision, assists in development, administration, implementation and evaluation of the disability support services program designed to provide supports and services to students with psychological, physical, visual, communication, learning and/or hearing disabilities. Additionally, DSP&S helps to promote the transfer of disabled students to four-year colleges or universities; coordinates, provides and monitors provision of academic and support services for program students; and performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience:
A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is graduation from a four-year college or university with a major in education, social sciences, human services or a closely related field; and at least two years of progressively responsible program-related administrative experience, working with students with disabilities in an educational setting; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements:A valid California driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the District's vehicle insurance policy.Meeting the minimum requirements of the position does not guarantee advancement in the selection process. Candidate qualifications will be assessed to determine those who meet and exceed requirements, and are deemed most competitive amongst the applicant pool to proceed.
