Job Summary
Cathedral Chapel School, a Catholic elementary school located in the Miracle Mile area near LACMA, is looking for a junior high Science and Math teacher that will also serve as the seventh grade homeroom teacher. The junior high school is departmentalized and the seventh grade homeroom teacher is responsible for teaching earth, life and physical science as well as grade level math. A qualified individual will be well versed in teaching the Next Generation Science Standards and Common Core State Standards in Math. Our school has a state-of-the-art science lab for science classes. The teacher is expected to incorporate project-based learning and the scientific method through engaging and interactive science experiments. Language Arts is taught by the eighth grade homeroom teacher and the sixth grade homeroom teacher teaches the Religion and Social Studies. Cathedral Chapel School has teachers for computer, art, music, and physical education. The teacher would be expected to support and implement the philosophy of Catholic education and participate in building the faith community at Cathedral Chapel School. You would also be expected to demonstrate evidence of prior planning e.g. lesson plans, evaluate student progress effectively through a variety of assessments, differentiate instruction, demonstrate an ability to motivate students, and maintain an atmosphere conducive to student learning. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to integrate technology into the junior high curriculum. As a team member, you would be expected to work co-operatively with the administration and your colleagues as well as the sup-port staff. You would be expected to demonstrate positive interpersonal relationships with both students and their parents.
