BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF POSITION The math teaching position is a salaried exempt position that reports to the Chair of the Math Department, and the administrative team of Principal and Vice Principals. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS • Experience teaching high school Math - advanced levels preferred. • Demonstrate passion and expertise in the teaching of mathematics. • Establish mathematics goals to focus learning. • Establish tasks that promote reasoning and problem solving. • Use and connect mathematical representations and pose purposeful questions. • Facilitate meaningful mathematical discourse. • Build procedural fluency from conceptual understanding. • Support productive struggle in learning mathematics. • Elicit and use evidence of student thinking and engagement. • Proficiency in the use of technology in the classroom, a willingness to incorporate technology as a strategy to engage learners and competency using technology as a learning-based management system. • Willingness to differentiate learning to reach a range of student learning styles. • Instruct full-credit math classes, assigned at the discretion of the Math Department Chair. • Participate in school-wide and departmental faculty meetings and professional growth opportunities. • Eagerness to plan and teach through collaboration with subject-matter colleagues.
