Under direct supervision of the Director, Alternative Programs. At single or multiple sites, using specialized techniques, provides instruction in identified social and academic areas which meet individual and group needs of students who have been unable to succeed in established elementary and high schools and/or continuation schools.
Requirements / Qualifications
Successful candidate must possess a valid California credential or have the ability to secure a California credential. Interns are accepted. This position is represented by the California Teachers Association (CTA) The one. Program has an established a CARE classroom on the campus of Lathrop High School. This class will serve up to twenty-two (22) 9th grade students who struggled academically in 8th grade. The teacher in this classroom will teach 6 courses (English, Algebra, A and B, Science, Success 101/Health, and an Elective) throughout the school year on a block schedule. The teacher will have 1 period of prep per semester. The curriculum and technology will be provided by Lathrop High School. It will be important for the teacher to develop positive relationships with the students and their families, offer tutoring opportunities during lunch time and before or after school. The teacher will follow the bell schedule and school calendar for Lathrop High School (Manteca Unified School District). The teacher will be required to attend Lathrop High faculty meetings and participate in Lathrop High’s professional development and PLC opportunities. The teacher is an employee of San Joaquin County Office of Education and will attend our meetings as appropriate based on availability due to Lathrop High's schedule. They will also be supported by the administrative team at Lathrop High School as well as the Administrator in charge of CARE for SJCOE.
