Requirements / Qualifications
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: • Oversees student support and intervention at the comprehensive high school level. • Collaborates with site and district administration to offer all students Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and Response to Intervention (RtI) supports as appropriate. • Maintains a focus on early behavior intervention for students. • Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to support the mental health of students. • Maintains a focus on parent outreach and engagement. • Oversees the implementation and expansion of the student wellness center and its resources. • Confer with and assist instruction personnel in the resolution of student needs and/or concerns. • Assists in protecting the health and welfare of all students. • Assists with the implementation and support of suicide prevention programs. • Coordinates support and resources for EL, Foster, and Homeless students. • Works to build intervention programs for freshman students as they transition to high school, including but not limited to mentoring programs. • Oversees the coordination of intervention offerings for all students. • May lead and participate in the SARB/SART process for students in need. • May lead and participate in 504s, IEPs, ISTs/SSTs as needed. • May assist in student discipline, attendance, supervision, and activities. • May conduct or participate in parent conferences in resolving student instruction, attendance and truancy matters. • May serve as a liaison to student service community groups • May participate in ELAC and DELAC committees as necessary. • May assist with behavioral and academic Saturday school programs.
QUALIFICATIONS: Academic Training and Credentials: Master's Degree Valid appropriate California Administrative Credential authorizing service as a Dean of Student Support. Experience: Strong background with a record of successful experience as a teacher and/or counselor; ability to provide leadership to the staff at the high school level. Other Professional Qualifications: Ability to involve, establish rapport, and work effectively with high school teachers, students, counselors, parents and classified personnel; effective communication skills, both verbal and written; sound organizational and planning ability; knowledge of, and involvement with, effective instructional programs.
