DESCRIPTION: The District provides Spanish language instruction to students in a program taught by specialist teachers. Instruction focuses on communication skills ~ listening, speaking, reading and writing ~ along with an emphasis on cultural understanding. Under the immediate direction of the Building Principal, is responsible for the academic, social and psychological growth of primary students. Collaborates with school personnel, parent and community agencies to provide quality instructional programs. REQUESTED: Strong Spanish curriculum background Ability to conduct instruction fully in Spanish, engaging advanced Spanish language students in reading grade-level informational text and fiction; writing grade-level narrative, expository, and persuasive compositions; understanding Spanish language radio, television, song, and cinema media; presenting Spanish language reports, oral arguments; mastering finer elements of Spanish language grammar, mechanics, and syntax Knowledge, training and implementation experience in Differentiated Instruction Expertise in technology integration Demonstrated success in collaborative planning with teachers of other subjects Knowledge of Professional Learning Community teams Ability to plan lessons that cross curriculum and cultural lines Understanding of California content standards in Spanish Demonstrated expertise and success in communication with parents Ability, experience, and willingness to supervise the mainstreaming of special education students Native Spanish speaker preferred but not required QUALIFICATIONS: Valid Single Subject Foreign Language: Spanish credential OR Multiple Subject with Bilingual Authorization in Spanish Must be an excellent language model in Spanish CLAD or BCLAD credential is desirable
