Job Summary

<b>Position Statement</b> Reporting to our Division Heads, this newly imagined position seeks a professional with Jewish educational and musical background to coordinate and teach Judaic Studies and, in collaboration with staff and faculty, enhance the musical and spiritual aspects of Jewish life across the campus. <b>Essential Duties and Responsibilities May Include:</b> <li>Collaborating as “lead” with colleagues in the development and implementation of Lower School Judaic curriculum. <li>Planning and teaching one or more Judaic courses of study that challenge and support High School and/or Middle School students in their learning. <li>Songleading in Lower School Kabbalat Shabbat, holidays and special programs. <li>Participating musically in Upper School Kabbalat Shabbat as a member of our Shabeats Band as well as in other holiday and special programs. <li>Fulfilling various professional responsibilities, such as chaperoning on-campus events, attending faculty meetings, and participating in parent-student-teacher conferences. </li>

Desired Qualifications:
  • Rabbinic Ordination, Cantorial Ordination, or Master’s degree in Jewish Education.
  • Songleading Experience.
  • Knowledge of Cantillation and Tefillah.
  • Teaching experience and ability to teach across the Jewish Studies curriculum.
  • Eagerness to work with colleagues in a highly collaborative setting.
  • Hours This is a full-time position requiring on-campus presence during school hours, and at various other times for special meetings and programs. However, it is generally possible to take outside rabbinic or cantorial pulpit work on Shabbat and Jewish Holidays. School is closed for two weeks during Winter Break and two weeks during Pesach Break, as well as during all major Jewish and Federal holidays. Depending upon need and mutual agreement, the work calendar is yet to be determined (school-year, year-round, August 1 - June 30), with salary adjusted accordingly.
