Job Summary

The Youth Leader – Expanded Learning Programs (ELP) is responsible for the direct supervision of up to 20 program participants, and for the daily planning and implementation of program activities. The Youth Leader collaborates with other team members, families, and school personnel to provide participants with academic support, enrichment activities, and other student programs that increase student skill building, encourage healthy choices and behaviors, promote diversity and equity, and support youth voice and leadership. The Youth Leader position requires high energy, dedication, patience, and a strong desire to mentor youth, strengthen families, and serve the community. Essential Duties: Actively supervise a group of up to 20 K-12 students, ensuring their guidance and safety at all times Assist in the planning, management and implementation of age-appropriate enrichment activities that engage students in active and meaningful experiences Provide homework assistance and academic/enrichment activities Provide positive behavior guidance that supports the developmental, social-emotional and physical needs of all students Qualifications: Must be 18 years of age or older and possess a high school diploma/GED. Must meet minimum qualifications for a highly qualified Classroom Assistant/Instructional Aide in the district in which the assigned school operates; AA/AS degree, 48 college units or passing score on district’s Classroom Assistant/Instructional Aide proficiency exam acceptable. Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act in an emergency situation. Physical ability to lead activities such as sports, games, academic assistance, assemblies, transitions, and other program activities. Fingerprint clearance from DOJ/FBI required prior to working.
