The Mt. We have an exciting opportunity for a School Certifying Official, Veteran Affairs located at our campus in Menifee, CA. Under the general direction of the Director of Student Services, the School Certifying Official (SCO) performs day to day services and activities of the Veterans Resource Center (VRC); counsel students concerning their eligibility for various Veteran Affairs (VA) educational assistance programs and interprets federal, state, and institutional regulations. The School Certifying Official is also responsible for completing the certification process for veterans and eligible dependents. disseminates information to academic counselors and administrative staff as well as providing information about applying for funds from other financial aid resources at the College; As well as assist with services related to tutorial assistance and work study benefits in accordance with federal, state, and institutional guidelines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 1) Associate's degree; AND 2) Four (4) years of professional experience with veteran affairs/military services; AND 3) Two (2) years of work experience in education (or a Veteran Service field); AND 4) Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff ***Before scanning attachments, remove/redact sensitive, confidential information such as date of birth, social security number, address and photograph*** SUBSTITUTIONS Substitutions for meeting the minimum qualifications of this position are allowed. Please refer to the Substitution Policy included in the Tips for Applying Substitutions for the education requirement are allowed Substitutions for the professional experience requirement are allowed, up to a maximum of two (2) years DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree Previous military service or experience Two (2) years of professional experience within a community college Familiarity with Veterans concerns and problems Experience working with: New Enrollment Manager (former VA-ONCE) system diverse compositions of student populations college students in the areas of mentoring, advising, and counseling developing publications and marketing materials Advanced computer skills including website development Completion of VA School Certifying Official training
