Required Qualifications:

Education and/or Training:

• Completion of the twelfth (12th) grade or some equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Basic awareness of recreational activities and techniques in working with children.

Credentials and/or Skills:

• Ability to relate and work well with children

• Ability to organize play activities with minimum supervision

• Ability to establish warm and friendly relationships with students and staff

• Bilingual Spanish / Hmong preferred.

Experience:

Minimum of one (1) year experience preferred.

Summary of the Position:

Under the supervision of the school site Principal or designee, supervises cafeteria, playground, and other areas as assigned, with attention to the health, safety, and conduct of students.   

Essential Duties:

• Under the supervision of the school site Principal or designee, supervises cafeteria, playground, and other areas as assigned, with attention to the health, safety, and conduct of students.   

• Help organize and supervise noon play activities.  

• Maintains a firm but respectful and courteous attitude toward students;

• Reports all faulty playground equipment to the school office;

• Handles and appropriately refers accidents involving students

• Encourages children to observe fundamental courtesies, practice good eating habits, leave immediate eating area neat and clean, be orderly in going to and from eating area

• Assists children to observe all school safety rules, participate in wholesome recreational play activities, observe all rules of games, and learn to play with others in a social group.

• Exercises no supervision over other employees; no corporal punishment may be administered by Yard Duty Supervisors.

• Other duties as assigned.

Work Environment:

Employees in this position will be required to work indoors in a cafeteria environment and/or outside on the playground or blacktop areas.

Duty Days / Hours:

• 180 days per year

• 1 hour 15 minutes per day / split shift

• Monday – Friday
