Requirements / Qualifications

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • The ability to design and model the implementation of effective behavioral programs with a foundation in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and other evidenced-based techniques for students with Autism Spectrum Disorders and/or behavioral difficulties. • Training and supervising instructional aides related to the implementation of evidenced-based practices pertaining to supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorders and behavioral difficulties. • Consulting with and providing insight and strategies to teachers, staff members, and parents related to the behavioral needs of students with special needs. • Providing BCBA-related supervision and leadership to school teams, including staff training/coaching, program development and data analysis. • Collaborating with District psychologists in conducting Functional Behavior Assessments (FBSs), Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), and IEP goals related to social/emotional/behavioral areas of need, social skills, and communication. • Ongoing case management responsibilities related to the IEP process for specific students, including supervision of behavioral services, ongoing monitoring of these services, tracking data related to these cases and recording this data on a regular basis, and facilitating collaboration between staff members and parents.

• Provide Limited DIS Counseling services • Attending IEP meetings and clearly presenting findings related to FBAs and BIPs in a parent-friendly manner. • Participating as a member of the District-wide crisis management team. • The ability and willingness to maintain certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI) and the ability and willingness to implement NCI training techniques as necessary. • Participation as a strong and effective team member and leader in certain special education related leadership initiatives. • The ability to create and present professional development workshops to parents and staff members. • Strong written and oral language skills. • Exhibits professional conduct at all times, including but not limited to exhibiting strong organizational skills, effective communication skills and email etiquette, responsiveness to staff and parents in a timely manner, the ability to multi-task, and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting. • Implements appropriate and legally defensible practices related to State and Federal Special Education Legislation. • Other duties as assigned. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Master’s Degree in Psychology, Counseling, or related field • Possess or have in progress a Board Certified Behavior Analyst Certification. • Possession of a valid Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) Credential (School Psychology, Social Work, or Academic Counseling) • Experience in writing behavior plans for students with behavior difficulties including students with autism and other disabilities • Minimum of two years’ experience working as a behavior or autism specialist or related field. KNOWLEDGE OF: • Best practices and laws governing behavioral supports for students with disabilities. ABILITY TO: • Work at a desk, conference table, or in meetings of various configurations; • Stand and circulate for extended periods of time; • Lift up to 25 pounds; • Ability to carry up to 25 pounds; • Establish rapport and work constructively with staff, students, parents, and community members; • Creatively solve problems and work through the conflict resolution process; • Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
