Who We Are Located in Champaign, IL, Montessori School of Champaign Urbana (MSCU) occupies two acres of land including a primary building, and one that is currently being used for upper Elementary. Because of its growth over the last few years, our lower elementary has grown considerably and is in a rented space in a neighboring building. The school consists of flower and vegetable gardens that the students maintain, a natural playspace, and several smaller classroom based playgrounds. MSCU currently has 160 students, 10 full-time Montessori trained teachers, and 19 supporting teachers enrolled for the 22-23 school year. We are committed to providing a comprehensive Montessori education with a highly trained staff who awaken the natural curiosity of children through hands-on prepared environments to be self-directed, compassionate, innovative thinkers. Your Role We are looking for a leader to join our passionate and collaborative community who shares our passion for the Montessori method and who has the talent and perseverance required to grow enrollment, attract and retain great staff, build a strong parent community, and ensure the educational experience for each child in every classroom is of the highest standard. As the Head of School, you'll be responsible for providing leadership to the entire campus team. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Develop and implement a strategic plan for the campus Create a strong culture that embodies the mission and vision of our organization Build a strong community among staff, parents, and children Ensure delivery of exceptional toddler, primary, and elementary programs Provide administrative oversight of budget to ensure it is fiscally sound Work with the administrative team to ensure enrollment targets are met Hire, support, develop, and manage teaching and administrative staff What we offer: Ongoing professional development A network of supportive peers and mentors who regularly share best practices A competitive salary commensurate with experience Relocation package Health, dental, and vision insurance Paid time off and paid holidays 50% tuition discount for two children at any school within our network (we serve children 2 years old through 6th grade) Montessori training and certification We'd love to talk with you if you possess: 2+ years of experience as a school administrator, such as a preschool director, school director, program director, principal, or vice principal OR are a long standing Montessori teacher with leadership experience Exceptional written and verbal communication skills An aptitude for creating a warm and inclusive team culture A commitment to Montessori pedagogy and philosophy We prefer candidates with: 3+ years teaching experience in childhood education Montessori certification preferred Montessori training will be required after hire for those without a certification in it.
