WRITTEN TESTS
Friday, April 7, 2023, at 1:30 P.M., SHARP. Parent Center, North Training Room, 4850 Pedley Road, Jurupa Valley, CA 92509. THE TESTING WILL TAKE APPROXIMATELY ONE (1) HOUR TO COMPLETE. PLEASE BE PREPARED TO REMAIN IN THE TESTING ROOM FOR THE ENTIRE TEST PERIOD. THIS IS THE ONLY NOTICE OF THE TESTING.

Jurupa Unified School District LEAD NIGHT CUSTODIAN DEFINITION Under supervision to maintain prescribed levels of cleanliness of school facilities; to perform routine preventive maintenance tasks; to be responsible for building security; to assist the Head Custodian in the supervision of assigned night personnel; and to do related work as required. The position of Lead Night Custodian is assigned to the evening shift at a middle school or high school and serves in a lead capacity over a number of Custodians working the same shift. It is distinguished from Head Custodian in that overall supervisory responsibility remains with the Head Custodian. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS · Assists in preparing work schedules for the school plant in accordance with work loads and available staff. · Confers with the Head Custodian, appropriate management personnel, and/or the Principal regarding care and cleaning problems of school buildings. · Assists in training, instructing and supervising Custodians and inspects the work of Custodians. · Informs Head Custodian of needed custodial supplies, materials and equipment. · Keeps records. · Cleans school facilities and performs light maintenance tasks. (Ex: scrubs, mops, waxes, sweeps and dust-mops floors; vacuums rugs and carpets; disinfects, scrubs and mops restrooms; picks up papers and other debris on grounds and walks; replenishes paper supplies; empties waste baskets and other trash receptacles; washes windows and performs other cleaning tasks; makes minor repairs; changes batteries, chair glides and lightbulbs.) · Assists in moving and arranging furniture and equipment, and setting up building and rooms for meetings and special events. · Locks and secures the site. OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS · Performs other related tasks as assigned. LICENSE REQUIREMENT Possession of a valid, appropriate California Driver’s License. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge of: Basic methods, supplies, and equipment used in custodial work; Safety and sanitation practices necessary for the custodial maintenance of school facilities. Ability to: Remain flexible despite a heavy work load, frequent schedule changes or job duty changes; Quickly learn and schedules, procedures and full use of equipment and supplies used in custodial work; Make minor non-technical repairs; Personnel Services (over) LEAD NIGHT CUSTODIAN Ability to (continued): Work with a minimum of supervision; Work safely; Perform tasks of heavy physical exertion; Supervise others and ensure that the scheduled work is done effectively; Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Read, understand and follow instructions; Communicate effectively; Stand, stoop, kneel, bend and walk; Climb slopes, stairs, steps and ladders; Lift, carry and pull heavy objects; Accomplish tasks at various elevated heights in a safe and effective manner; Efficiently and effectively operate typical custodial machines and equipment; Accomplish tasks in restricted spaces in a safe and effective manner; Accomplish tasks with chemical agents in a safe and effective manner; Perform strenuous manual labor for up to 8 hours; Read handwritten or typed documents; Maintain steady, regular attendance; Experience: Three years of experience in custodial work; prefer one year experience as custodian in a school plant.
