Job Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Coordinator of Extended School Programs, manages, coordinates, directs site-based extended school program personnel, programs and procedures; supports and promotes the vision of establishing an extended learning opportunity for students; and performs related duties as assigned. Communicates regularly with the immediate supervisor regarding site plans and activities; follows established procedures when reporting unusual situations and/or incidents; manages program components and provides daily supervision of site-based personnel; provides assigned staff with appropriate and consistent schedule of events and lesson plans; provides organized, comprehensive age and/or grade level appropriate activities; establishes schedule of assigned staff to ensure adequate supervision; maintains accurate record of staff daily attendance and punctuality; collects and turns in appropriate fees; maintains records of volunteer hours; assigns and supervises volunteers; maintains accurate records of student attendance; maintains records and submits reports, such as rosters, student folders, registration and records on a timely basis; attends and participates in required meetings; ensures respectful use of and maintains physical space used by staff and students; plans and implements staff site meetings; maintains collaborative work environment with assigned site principal or designee; maintains a self-sustaining program by planning, organizing and implementing events such as family gatherings and appropriate field trips; develops a comprehensive nutrition plan in accordance with suggested guidelines; and infuses provided curriculum into program to ensure growth of students.

Requirements / Qualifications

Graduation from high school or equivalent; one year of experience working with school age children, plus one year of experience supervising other adults; or such alternative the personnel commission may find applicable. Must show proof of one of the following: successful completion of 48 semester units (72 quarter units) at a recognized college or university OR attainment of an Associate (or higher) degree from a recognized college or university OR passing a local assessment of knowledge and skills in assisting in instruction (MUSD approved assessment). This recruitment will be used to fill one (1) full-time position working 8 hours per day, 9 months per year. This will be a split shift requiring you to work the following hours 6:30-8 a.m. and return in the afternoon at 1:00-6:30 p.m. every day.

DOJ & FBI fingerprint clearance Must obtain, within 90 days of employment, a certificate of course completion from either the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association for first aid training that includes cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR); thereafter, must maintain a valid certificate.
