College of the Sequoias Community College District is seeking a candidate to fill an administrative position under the direction of the Dean of CTE/Nursing and Allied Health/Hanford Provost to coordinate the Paramedic program. The Paramedic Program Director will develop and implement the clinical training aspects of the program, including securing clinical contracts and overseeing the accreditation process. The Director will also work with local medical services agencies and medical directors.

Job Duties
Under the direction of the Dean of CTE/Nursing and Allied Health/Hanford Provost, the Paramedic Program Director will oversee the recruitment, development, and evaluation of key program personnel and identify and work with all stakeholders for the planning, implementation, and assessment of the Paramedic program/curriculum.
The Paramedic Program Director will provide management of the program budget, as well as ensure that all fiscal policies and procedures are followed including procurement and distribution of, and accounting for, all grants. The Program Director will remain current in all Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education requirements and maintain Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Profession (CoAEMSP) accreditation for the COS Paramedic program.
The Paramedic Program Director will participate in the governance of the District by way of committee assignments. Other responsibilities include full participation in departmental and programmatic responsibilities, and the willingness to create and/or participate in and sustain an atmosphere of equity which is respectful of campus-wide diversity.
The Director must meet the qualifications as outlined by the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP) and the California Code of Regulations, Title 22, Social Security, Division 9, Pre-Hospital Emergency Medical Services, Chapter 4, Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic, Article 3, 100150 (b), Teaching Staff under the Program/Course Director description.
Areas of Responsibility:
• Develop Paramedic curriculum complies with regulatory standards and guidelines established by CA Code of Regulations, Title 22, and CAAHEP/CoAEMSP.
• Develop and teach Paramedic courses; collaborate with faculty to ensure continuity in the delivery of the course/program content.
• Ensure students have met the required terminal competencies and are eligible to take the National Registry Exam.
• Facilitate cooperative and collaborative work relationship with the EMSA, Medical Directors, Internship Preceptors, affiliate agency personnel and community.
• Develop clinical placement contracts for the clinical education component of the curriculum.
• Approve, supervise, orient and mentor the principal instructors, teaching assistants, field and hospital clinical preceptors, and the clinical and internship assignments.
• Assess learning experiences for students during Paramedic education program.
• Evaluate students' performance, in cooperation with other faculty, to determine their ability to integrate didactic and clinical learning experiences and to progress within the curriculum.
• Engage core faculty in professional development, implementation of curriculum and assessment.
• Chair the EMS/Paramedic Advisory Board to ensure congruency between standard practice of EMS/Paramedic curriculum.
• Ensure congruency between Title V development and long-range planning for the college.
• Work in conjunction with Paramedic faculty and staff to ensure that instructional strategies and curriculum allow for systematic improvement.
• Educate students, clinical and academic faculty about the paramedic program including student and faculty orientation.
• Maximize available resources for the Paramedic program.
• Perform administrative and academic responsibilities consistent with the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education requirements and maintain Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Profession (CoAEMSP).
• Provide documented records and assessment of Paramedic program curriculum, as well as clinical education sites, and preceptors.
• Select clinical learning environments that demonstrate characteristics of sound patient/client management, ethical and professional behavior, and currency with practice of EMS/Paramedic services.
• Develop criteria and procedures for clinical site selection, utilization and assessment.
• Manage clinical responsibilities consistent with (CoAEMSP), federal/state regulations, institutional policy and practice setting requirements.
• Support and oversee student orientation for clinical and field internship placements.
• Ensure preceptors are trained to teach and evaluate students in accordance with the program curriculum, as mandated by the regulatory bodies.
• Coordinate assessment of student learning outcome objectives within course and programs and willingness to develop and use stated objectives and measures.
Qualifications
The candidate must meet the following criteria. The degree must be from an institution accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges or the equivalent.
• Graduate of an accredited Paramedic Program and,• An earned post-professional master's degree in education, clinical specialty or other related fields of study and,• A minimum of five years experience as a licensed Paramedic and three years of clinical experience and,
• Appropriate Paramedic license to work in California.
• Demonstrated sensitivity to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students which pursuant to Title 5 §53022 is a core system competency and job requirement.
