Job Summary

Job Purpose: is to assist students in the development of library skills necessary for independent learning. Emphasis is placed on the appreciation and enjoyment of literature and the motivation of reading for pleasure as well as for information. Primary requirements: o Bachelor’s Degree required o Experience in working with elementary school students o Experience with English Learners o Excellent student interaction skills in whole and small group o Excellent computer skills o Fingerprinting from the Department of Justice via live scan required o Proof and clearance of TB test (within one year) required o Bilingual desired Primary Responsibilities: o Manages the issuing and returning of the library’s stock o Shelves books and keeps the library in good order o Inventories and maintains equipment o Catalogues new material to the library collection. Processes new material for shelving. o Manages the library management system and supports its use by students. o Helps library users find material to meet their needs. o Assists library users to become proficient in using on-line resources (Including AR). o Encourages pupils and staff in using the library through the design and support of a range of library based activities o Creates library schedule for all classroom visits o Develops grade level appropriate lessons on library, reference, and media use. o Performs other duties as assigned.
