Job Description and Duties

The Education Administrator I manages the Data, Evaluation, and Analysis Unit. Responsibilities include providing leadership, managerial direction, and supervision of professional education, analytical, and support staff for the education program responsibilities assigned to the unit which include data collection on students with disabilities, public reporting of special education data, submission of special education EdFacts data to the US Department of Education, and support other unit on data inputs and tracking. Duties include:

 

Plans, organizes, directs, supervises and evaluates Unit activities.

Oversees the functions of Unit staff including assigning work, approving itineraries and travel, reviewing staff work.

Administers and supervises the design and implementation special education data collection. Coordinates the development and implementation of a plan to identify, collect and analyze critical data for strategic planning for special education under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

Collaborates with the Educational Data Management Division and the Analysis, Measurement, Accountability and Reporting Division to ensure that valid and reliable data is collected from LEAs for public reporting, federal data submissions and special education monitoring.

Serve as the primary architect of the Special Education Data master plan, including developing and procuring solutions for monitoring and complaint data collections.

 

Collaborate with the Technical Services Division to ensure that division has the necessary software and web tools to efficiently and effectively meet the requirements of IDEA.

 

Serves as a member of the Division Leadership Team to advise the Directors and help coordinate the overall efforts of the Division; shares responsibilities for specific Division tasks beyond the scope of the incumbent’s unit or function.
