The Multidisciplinary Tutoring program at Long Beach City College is seeking qualified individuals for the part-time Instructional Aide, Student Success Center position. This program provides free, one-on-one content specific tutoring and group tutoring via the Embedded Tutoring and Supplemental Instruction programs. We are looking for a skilled and student-centered Instructional Aide to work with Center faculty and staff in maintaining day-to-day operations. Candidates should possess a dedication to student success, flexibility, and the ability to work independently. • Type of position: Part Time- 18 hours

• Location: LAC and/or PCC

• Salary: Range 16 - $18.98 / Hourly

• Advanced salary placement: Generally, new employees start at the first step on the salary schedule. Advanced salary placement may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Duties

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Under the direction of the Instructional Specialist, provide instructional and clerical assistance in the Student Success Center. Assist students in the proper use of equipment and materials and with check-in procedures. Assure the preparation and maintenance of student files and instructional materials and supplies. Assist in providing reports to faculty.

Qualifications

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION:

 

Education, Training and Experience:

 

• A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent

• Some related instructional assistance experience;

• Or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

 

Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements:

 

A valid California driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the District's vehicle insurance policy.

 

Meeting the minimum requirements of the position does not guarantee advancement in the selection process. Candidate qualifications will be assessed to determine those who meet and exceed requirements, and are deemed most competitive amongst the applicant pool to proceed.

• If you participate in and fail any examination segment, you must wait a period of 90 days (~3 months) to test again for the same classification.

 

Selection Process:

The following examination segments may be utilized during the selection process:

 

• Minimum Qualifications Screening: (Pass/Fail)

 

• Subject Matter Expert (SME) application review: (Pass/Fail)

 

• Oral Panel Interview: (100%)

 

• Final Interview: With Hiring Authority and Committee

 

*** PLEASE NOTE: The District reserves the right to utilize a flexible pass point (cut-off score) on any test part, and/or modify any test part. Examination procedures are subject to change as deemed necessary by the Executive Director, Classified Human Resources.***
