Job Summary
Under the general supervision of a classroom teacher, assists in providing instruction to individuals or small groups of students at an assigned elementary school site; prepares instructional materials and performs a variety of clerical duties as assigned. Often required to support more than one teacher and classroom.
Requirements / Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: *Graduation from high school or equivalent. *Minimum of 48 college units or AA degree. *Pass the District’s proficiency test in reading, writing and math. *Knowledge of basic subjects taught in District schools, including arithmetic, grammar, spelling, language and reading. *Usage of correct English, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary. *Able to perform routine clerical and record keeping tasks and operate a variety of educational and office related machines and equipment. Reading and writing communication skills; able to follow oral and written instructions. Able to demonstrate an understanding, patient and receptive attitude toward students of varied age groups and ethnic background.
