Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Family and Community Engagement Manager, the Family Service Advocate (FSA) promotes family wellness, and parent engagement and supports the implementation of the family partnership process.  FSAs operate as a liaison between classroom and home settings in the area of early childhood education, including areas of health, nutrition, mental health, disabilities, and parent involvement. In addition, FSAs recruit, enroll, and work closely with staff to ensure appropriate school attendance and continuous services for children and families. This position will require travel to and from the main office and Early Childhood Education centers located in Los Angeles and Lynwood service areas, as needed. Mileage reimbursement is offered for travel.      This position includes, but is not limited to, the development and/or update of assessing the needs of families and support to find adequate resources to meet the families’ needs. FSA will assist families acquire advocacy skills and coordination of necessary services, establish an ongoing partnership with families, and be respectful of families’ diversity and cultural backgrounds. At times, if necessary, home visits may occur to meet a family’s needs and ensure the wellbeing of the family. FSAs, in collaboration with other program service areas staff, coordinate and facilitate monthly parent meetings, workshops and/or trainings for families, held in person and/or virtually. FSAs are also responsible for data entry, recordkeeping, and tracking of family data. Electronic completion and filing of forms is required. FSAs work closely with other service areas to carry out their duties and responsibilities for their assigned caseloads, including all of St. Anne’s Head Start, Early Head Start, and State-funded contracts and program options.
