CERTIFICATED PERSONNEL No. 3.1 JOB DESCRIPTION CLASSROOM TEACHER SALARY CLASSIFICATION Teacher DEPARTMENT Instruction CONTROL/ASSIGNMENT The Classroom Teacher is assigned to a school and is responsible to the site administrator to teach one or more classes in an assigned grade level/levels. RESPONSIBILITIES Under the direction of the site administrator, the classroom teacher is responsible to assess and evaluate pupils¡¦ level of maturity and degree of competency in subjects taught in an assigned grade level. The Classroom Teacher shall provide leadership for development and improvement of curriculum in light of individual pupil needs. In consultation with the site administrator, the Classroom Teacher shall set educational objectives relative to pupil progress and shall periodically re-evaluate objectives as to their value for the students. The Teacher shall report to the site administrator or his/her designee, the amount of pupil progress at the end of each grading period as related to established goals and objectives as set at the beginning of the school year. DUTIES „X Shall maintain proper control and a suitable learning environment using disciplinary procedures that are appropriate for the age of the students. „X Shall demonstrate knowledge of subject matter by applying it in practical teaching situations. „X Shall present content and skills in subject area(s), utilizing a course of student adopted by the Board and such other learning activities as the teacher deems appropriate „X Shall promote pupil awareness of citizenship, basic communication skills and other general elements of the course of study common to all teachers, as specified in State law and administrative regulations and procedures of the District. „X Shall provide planned learning experiences designed to motivate pupils and best utilize time available for instruction. CERTIFICATED PERSONNEL No. 3.1 JOB DESCRIPTION: CLASSROOM TEACHER Page 2 „X Shall provide individual and small group instruction, adapting the curriculum to the needs of individuals and remedial programs when class size and make-up, facilities, materials and time permit. „X Shall perform basic attendance accounting and inventory records. „X Shall evaluate each pupil¡¦s progress and prepare progress reports „X Shall consult with the site administrator or his/her designee to mutually develop the criteria under the Stull Bill Objective Guidelines in conformance with the District¡¦s guidelines for evaluation and assessments „X Shall be on time for the teaching day and meetings with necessary reports and records „X Shall plan and coordinate the work of aides and other paraprofessionals associated with the teaching assignment „X Shall supervise pupils as assigned by the principal for out-of-classroom activities (yard duty, bus duty, etc.) during the assigned duty day „X Shall demonstrate a professional attitude by: - Participating in leadership and/or supportive responsibilities for improvement of profession - Working cooperatively with other district personnel - Being cooperative and tactful with parents and community representatives - Maintaining professional competence through self-selected professional growth activities (inservice, extension classes, summer school, travel, etc.) - Recognizing the worth of the individual (pupil, layman, general public) regardless of race, color or creed - Maintaining confidentiality of students¡¦ progress, behavior, grades, problems and background „X Perform other tasks/duties as assigned in accordance with District, State, Federal policies, regulations and/or laws. QUALIFICIATIONS „X Shall hold a BA/BS degree and a valid/appropriate California Teaching Credential „X Shall demonstrate an ability to work with staff, students and community „X Shall demonstrate an aptitude for working with and a caring for students „X Shall demonstrate moral character as to be a positive example to children „X Shall satisfactorily complete a TB Test „X Shall not have been convicted of a felony „X Must have exhibited regular and punctual attendance in previous employment or assignment „X Shall demonstrate ability to maintain confidentiality
