Job Summary

Job Summary

A. General Description of Position Goals: Under the direction of the Director of Student Services and Director of English Learner Support Services, performs interpreting of languages and translating of documents from on language to another; reviews legal and medical documents from a specified language following common word meanings, sentence structure, grammar, and punctuation; performs supportive tasks for administrative personnel; and performs other related work as assigned or required. B. Essential Job Functions: 1. Assist District personnel by translating a variety of documents and materials. 2. Assist District personnel by interpreting at a variety of confidential and public meetings. as assigned during the business day and/or after hours. 3. Translates instructional material, bulletins, correspondence, reports, handbooks, and directives to members of the educational community, students, and District staff. 4. Translates legal documents from one language to another. 5. Assist administration, support and instructional personnel through the interpretation and translation of the various aspects of individual education plans, Student Study Team meetings, expulsion hearings, SARB Hearings, and other confidential meetings with parents. 6. May translate student records from foreign educational agencies to assist in the development of a student instructional program to meet specific graduation requirements. 7. Prepares and assist in the preparation of a variety of primary language instructional materials and learning aids. 8. Maintains a variety of records and files pertaining to materials translated from one language to another. 9. Assist parents in the development and distribution of language specific newsletters and school activity notices and information. 10. Assist in the requisition, distribution, and maintenance of an appropriate inventory of language specific textbooks and instructional materials. 11. May translate and administer general profi

C. Job Requirements/Qualifications: 1. Experience & Education: High School Diploma or equivalency. Three (3) years of prior volunteer and/or paid experience performing oral and written interpretation and translation (English to Spanish). Training or college course work in interpretation and translation is highly desirable. 2. Licenses, Certifications and/or Testing: 3. Valid California Driver’s License 4. Valid Minimum Liability Car Insurance 5. TB Test Clearance 6. Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance 7. Successfully pass the District assessment

All District employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of employment. Successful applicants for this position will be required to submit proof of vaccination against COVID-19 or request an exemption for qualifying medical or religious reasons during the onboarding process.
