To serve as an assistant to the principal; under direction to provide leadership in the development and maintenance of the school's educational program, teacher assessment, student activities, discipline and attendance; to exercise leadership in the community in conformity with district policy.
1. Directly responsible to the principal.
2. Immediate subordinates - certificated and classified staff as assigned.
3. Assists the principal in areas of responsibility as assigned which may include any of the following:
a. Acting as chief administrator in the principal's absence.
b. Assisting in the interpretation and application of the state, county and district laws, regulations, policies and procedures at the site level.
c. Works cooperatively with law enforcement, mental health and family services attempting to remedy problems involving students.
d. Helping interpret the school program and its curriculum to parents through parent organizations, open houses, personal conferences and bulletins.
e. Promoting greater understanding among community groups of school objectives, accomplishments and problems.
f. Assisting the teachers and principal in maintaining student discipline in accordance with board policy.
g. Assisting in the direction of educational activities of the school that are affected by transportation, cafeteria, custodial and building maintenance.
h. Assisting with general supervision of campus, campus visitors and campus activities.
i. Directing activities necessary for the overall health and safety of students and staff, i.e., athletics, student government, clubs, organizations, master activity calendar, etc.
j. Providing assistance in programming and scheduling.
k. Coordinating site testing program.
l. Helping facilitate articulation among grade levels and schools.
m. Other duties as assigned.
n. Middle School: Provides information to students and parents on course requirements, graduation requirements, etc.
Minimum Qualifications:
Valid teaching credential;
Successful teaching experience at appropriate grade levels;
Administrative credential;
Master's degree desireable.
