THE POSITION

 

Under the general direction of the Assistant Superintendent of Business Support Services, is responsible for the administration and coordination of fiscal services.

 

RESPONSIBLE TO:            Assistant Superintendent - Business Support Services

 

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

 

The duties listed are typical, but not exclusive:

  • Screens, selects, directs and evaluates performance of classified staff members.
  • Delegates the compilation and analysis of District income and expenditure data.
  • Researches, compiles and analyzes financial, community, and economic data and statistical information and prepares reports to aid in policy decisions, District planning, special elections, enrollment forecasting.
  • Supervises the preparation of District budget schedule, annually, for program and fiscal planning.
  • Directs the compilation of data into initial draft budget; revises information, and works collaboratively with the Assistant Superintendent of BSS on preparations of the final budget.
  • Drafts reports for use in long-range revenue, expenditure and general fiscal planning for the District.
  • Assists in planning and assembling data for advisory groups, board information and/or other special projects.
  • Assist and support principals and other administrators in budgetary planning.
  • Works collaboratively with other District management.
  • Develops recommendations on fiscal services procedures, Board policy and administrative rules and regulation
  • Facilitates, coordinates, prepares and submits all Federal, State and local financial reports as required.
  • Maintains a budget monitoring system.
  • Supervise the areas of payroll, attendance, accounts, accounts payable/receivable and position control.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS GUIDE

 

Knowledge of:

  • Principles of budgeting, statistics and basic accounting.
  • School District organization.
  • Data sources and information pertinent to fiscal planning.
  • Office systems, procedures and management.
  • Alternative methods of school financing

 

Ability to:

  • Calculate long-range expenses.
  • Work well and collaborate with a variety of personnel.
  • Delegate responsibility.
  • Effectively plan for and deal with change.

 

Education and Experience:

Desirable:

  • District Office management experience
  • Experience in a K-12 district
