Clerk Typist II performs a wide variety of responsible, general office-clerical duties. PRE-QUALIFIED POOL EXAMINATION PROCESS: This application process will establish a pool of pre-qualified candidates for the Clerk Typist - I/II position(s). Candidates need only apply once; all applications will be screened for the minimum requirements at the highest level they are qualified for. Applicants who are successful in the examination process will be placed on the appropriate Pre-Qualified Pool List(s) for a duration of 1 YEAR. Once on a list, pre-qualified candidates will be required to express interest in our site-specific job postings as they are announced, by applying online. SALARY SCHEDULE: The Clerk Typist I will be paid on the OTBS Salary Schedule. Salary Grade: 17 ($15.84 - $17.47). The Clerk Typist II will be paid on the OTBS Salary Schedule. Salary Grade: 24 ($17.05 - $20.72).

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Clerk Typist I Any combination of training, experience, and/or education equivalent to high school graduation. Clerk Typist II Any combination of training, experience, and/or education equivalent to high school graduation and one (1) year of recent, full-time, or equivalent part-time, paid office clerical experience. Graduation from a recognized college with an associate of arts degree or higher in business, office administration, or a related major may be substituted for the experience requirement. Possession of a valid California driver’s license and availability of private vehicles may be required for designated positions (mileage expense allowance provided). LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Clerk Typist I Requires that incumbents be skilled in typing/keyboarding at a minimum of 25 words per minute*. Clerk Typist II Requires that incumbents be skilled in typing/keyboarding at a minimum of 40 words per minute*. (*) Applicants must certify in writing that they have such skills. Demonstrated proficiency will be expected during the probationary period for the class.
