Job Summary

Job Summary

The job of Vocational Placement Specialist is implemented through the State of California’s WorkAbility 1 program. This program provides pre-employment skills training, worksite training, and follow-up services for youth in special education who are making the transition from school to work. The WorkAbility staff works both one on one and in group settings with students supporting the Special Education program in determining work readiness and vocational/career goals.

Job duties include teaching job readiness skills to students with disabilities, helping students seek and sustain employment, and collaborating with various teachers, school staff, parents and private sector businesses and organizations to provide work experience for students.
